Level 2 - Darren Shan

This is the space for submitting reviews of Darren Shan’s books (just click on ‘Comments’).

Darren Shan was born in 1972 in London (his real name is Darren O’Shaughnessy). He moved to Ireland when he was 6 and has lived there ever since. He started writing adult horror books but then had great success with his first book Cirque du Freak – the beginning of the Saga of Darren Shan. These vampire stories have gone on to sell millions of copies worldwide. His next series, The Demonata, has been equally successful. He has a suitably scary website – www.darrenshan.com.

The Library has all of the books in both series.

The Demon Thief

By Darren Shan

This book is about a boy Cornelius Fleck but he gets called Kernel for short. Kernel is a strange boy he can see these lights that no one else can. He moves them about but one time he moved one and a demon came from behind it and he went missing.

My favourite part in the book was when he went missing because it was a great adventure.

I thought this book was really good and is suitable for all ages.

Darren Shan

Trials of Death

The Trials : seventeen ways to die unless the luck of the vampires is with you. Darren Shan must pass five fearsome Trials to prove himself to the vampire clan - or face the steaks in the hall of death.
But Vampire Mountain hold hidden threats. Sinister, potent forces are gathering in the darkness. In this nightmare world of bloodshed and betrayal, Death may be a blessing.

I think this book should be for 12-18.
